"Systems" is the
Secret
If you want to simplify your
life, grow your business and decrease your pain - build
systems. McDonalds was able to grow so successfully because of
the systems that Ray Croc implemented. Systems take the
pressure off the CEO and systems allow the entrepreneur to
clone himself. Systems is what keep the casinos running so
effectively. NASA follows systems to land a man on the moon and
return him to planet Earth. Systems allow an athelete to win
Olympic gold.
Good systems are built on solid
principles. Systems replace the need for luck. If you are
missing your targets - check your systems.

Exchange of Unequal
Value
Business is built on the
exchange of unequal value. I give you $10 for something that is
worth $5 to you and $20 to me. That's an exchange of unequal
value and it's good business.
The myth is that business is
built on the exchange of equal value.

How to become an
expert
Write a book. Because after you
write the book you will learn far more about the topic then you
did before writing the book. The process of writing the book
will change your perspective. It will force you to see the work
differently. Then you become the expert.

What is the Secret to Success?
I have
interviewed over 400 business leaders over the past decade
on my radio show, Business in Motion. The
guests include entrepreneurs, corporate executives and
business authors.
I keep searching for answers. Answers to questions
like, "What is the secret to success?"
Although the answer comes in different words, the common
message is: Success comes from doing little things
consistently well over time.
Think about that. Success is about the small stuff. Yes you
do need to sweat some of the small stuff – if you want to
be successful. "Don't sweat the small stuff" was not
written by or for business owners.
Not all of the small stuff – but the right small stuff. The
secret is in finding and focusing on the right small
stuff.
Good luck.

Success myth: Successful people are
balanced
It is a myth that successful
people are balanced. Perhaps it is a false hope. Perhaps
unsuccessful people want to believe that they can remain in
balance and still achieve success.
The reality is that successful
people are not balanced. They are obsessive about achieving
their goals. To become successful requires unbalanced
dedication. The leaders in every field are leaders because they
obsessed about reaching their goal. Even the Dalai Lama
is obsessive about chasing his goals.
Is you want to be successful be
prepared to obsess about reaching your goal.

Success myth: Do what you love
This is a common myth about
success. "All you need to do is what you love." This statement
is dangerous because it is only half true. You must discover
what you love and you must pursue what you love. But you will
also need to do things that you don't love in order to achieve
success.
Do what you love and be prepared
to do what you hate in order to do what you love.

Business Myth: Find a need and fill it
The common myth is that you will
have a successful business if you find a need and fill it. The
reality is that people don't buy what they need. They buy what
they want.

Entrepreneurs: What makes them tick?
Money is not the main motivation
for entrerpreneurs. Sure, most of them like the money but there
is another more motivating reason that pushes entrepreneurs to
do what they do.
They see something that others
can't see and they want to build it.
